Karachi students hack school website, defame teachers



Recently, a concerning trend has emerged in Karachi where students are getting involved in cybercrime activities, such as hacking school websites and defaming teachers. This has raised alarms for the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing, which is increasingly worried about the growing number of students engaging in online offenses.

Muhammad Amir Nawaz, the Additional Director of FIA Cybercrime in Karachi, pointed out that a lack of awareness about the consequences of such actions is a major factor behind these incidents. Many students don’t fully understand the legal and moral implications of their online behavior. Nawaz stressed that parents must play a key role in guiding their children, helping them understand the harmful effects of hacking and cyberbullying. "Parents must actively educate their children about the dangers of misusing technology," he said.

In the past ten months, the FIA’s Cybercrime Wing in Karachi has handled over 700 cases related to cybercrime, resulting in charges being proven against eight individuals. Despite having limited resources, the department has been working hard to address these issues and resolve cases as quickly as possible.

The FIA has called on both parents and teachers to be more vigilant and proactive in educating children about responsible use of technology. With the rise in cybercrimes, it is becoming increasingly important to ensure that students understand how to navigate the digital world ethically. Educational institutions also need to step up efforts to teach students about online safety and respect for others.
