Sindh Cultural Day was celebrated with great excitement and pride across the province on December 1, as people from all walks of life came together to honor the region's rich cultural heritage and vibrant traditions.
The day was filled with a variety of events, including lively rallies, colorful ceremonies, and heartfelt messages. Sindh's Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, took part in the celebrations by paying tribute to the province's deep cultural roots. In his message, he acknowledged the significance of Sindhi culture and expressed pride in the heritage of the people of Sindh. He emphasized that culture defines nations, and the identity of Sindh is built upon the values of peace, love, and brotherhood. Shah proudly reflected on Sindh’s long-standing tradition of hospitality and tolerance, especially its connection to Sufi teachings, which have shaped the province for centuries.
In his address, Murad Ali Shah not only paid homage to Sindh's glorious past but also outlined his vision for a bright future. He called on the youth to embrace modern education, expand their knowledge, and develop new skills that would contribute to the province’s progress. He also stressed the importance of empowering women and pledged to ensure that mothers, daughters, and sisters are included in the developmental journey of Sindh.
Celebrations were held in various cities across the province. In Kandiaro, the Government High School Ali Hassan Hasbani hosted a vibrant cultural event where students performed dances, tableaux, and other cultural displays. Shahdadkot and Naseerabad were filled with energetic rallies, with participants proudly waving flags and wearing traditional Sindhi caps and Ajraks. Mehar’s celebrations resembled an Eid festival, with hundreds taking part in rallies to express their love for the region. In Mithi, residents of Thar added to the festive atmosphere by performing sword dances, wearing traditional turbans, and dancing to lively Sindhi songs.
Sanghar also held a grand rally and ceremony at the Press Club, uniting people of all ages in traditional Sindhi attire. Tangwani saw several rallies, with youth and children joyously dancing to patriotic songs. Even the U.S. Consulate in Karachi joined in the celebrations, sending video greetings that highlighted Sindh’s legacy of tolerance, unity, and the teachings of Sufi saints.
The celebrations of Sindh Cultural Day served not only as a reminder of the province's rich history and traditions but also as a call to unite for a brighter, more prosperous future.
