LPG prices increased for December

Price of domestic cylinder hiked by Rs1.32

LPG prices have been increased for the month of December, making domestic usage slightly more expensive. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) issued a notification confirming the price hike, which has led to a rise in the cost of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Pakistan.

According to the new pricing, LPG will now cost Rs254.30 per kilogram, which is a small increase from last month. As a result, the price of an 11.8kg domestic LPG cylinder has risen to Rs3,000.79, reflecting an increase of Rs1.32 compared to the November price of Rs2,999.47. This price adjustment, though marginal, adds an extra cost for consumers relying on LPG for cooking and heating.

In addition to the price hike, a significant discovery has been made in Sindh. On Friday, it was revealed that the region has uncovered large reserves of oil and gas in record time. The discovery was made at the Pateji-X1 well, located in Sujawal district, part of the Shah Bandar Block. This exploration milestone is noteworthy for its rapid timeline from discovery to production, marking one of the fastest exploration-to-production processes in Pakistan’s energy history.

The well, which was drilled to a depth of 2,475 meters, began production in November and is expected to yield 12.4 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and approximately 196 barrels of crude oil daily. This new discovery is a significant development for the country’s energy sector and has the potential to contribute significantly to Pakistan’s energy needs.

The LPG price hike combined with this promising energy discovery highlights the ongoing changes and developments in Pakistan’s energy market. While the price increase adds financial pressure on consumers, the new oil and gas reserves in Sindh offer hope for improved energy security and potential economic benefits.
