They both highlighted the challenges faced due to droughts and the need for better management of water resources. The leaders stressed that the international community must work together to find sustainable solutions for water shortages.
PM Shehbaz shared his concerns, particularly about the impact of water shortages in Pakistan. He emphasized that water scarcity is one of the most pressing issues worldwide, and efforts to improve water management are essential. He also recalled the devastating floods in Pakistan and mentioned that global cooperation is needed to address such crises effectively.
On the other hand, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman acknowledged the severity of the water shortage issue and welcomed the discussion on securing water reserves and combating droughts. He also emphasized the importance of collective global efforts to solve the problem.
During the summit, PM Shehbaz and the Crown Prince met on the sidelines and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The two leaders were pleased to meet again, marking their fifth interaction in just six months. They agreed to focus on improving economic, trade, and investment ties, which are crucial for Pakistan’s growth. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress made in implementing agreements on investment in Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz thanked the Crown Prince for his ongoing support towards Pakistan and invited him for an official visit. The Crown Prince accepted the invitation and expressed his excitement about the visit.
In a separate meeting, before leaving for Saudi Arabia, PM Shehbaz also vowed to take strict actions against those responsible for violence in Islamabad. He emphasized that no leniency would be shown towards miscreants and announced plans to form a specialized anti-riot force and establish a forensic lab in Islamabad's Safe City.
