Starting from December 1, 2024, the government has increased the prices of petrol and diesel for the next two weeks. The Finance Ministry issued a notification detailing the changes.
Petrol prices have gone up by Rs3.72 per litre, now costing Rs252.10 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel (HSD) prices have increased by Rs3.29 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs258.43 per litre.
However, not all fuel prices are rising. Kerosene has become cheaper by Rs0.62 per litre, while the price of light diesel has dropped by Rs0.48 per litre. These changes in fuel prices are a result of market fluctuations, as per the government’s notification.
This adjustment comes after the government had decided to keep petrol and diesel prices unchanged for the previous fortnight, starting from November 16, 2024. During that period, the price of petrol remained at Rs248.38 per litre, and high-speed diesel was priced at Rs255.14 per litre.
The price hikes are likely to affect consumers and businesses, as fuel prices play a significant role in daily life and transportation costs. People will need to adjust to these new rates for the next two weeks until the next review.
In summary, while the price of petrol and diesel has gone up, kerosene and light diesel have become more affordable. The government continues to monitor the fuel market and make adjustments as needed.
