Ready to sacrifice life for Imran Khan's release, vows Gandapur at Swabi power show

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has vowed to take any necessary action, including sacrificing his life, to secure the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Speaking at a powerful gathering in Swabi on November 9, 2024, Gandapur expressed his commitment to the cause of "true freedom" and the release of the former Prime Minister, who is currently incarcerated on multiple charges.

Addressing a large crowd of PTI supporters, the chief minister made it clear that the PTI leadership and workers would not rest until Khan is released. He boldly stated, "Even if our lives are lost, we will not stop until Imran Khan is free." Gandapur further emphasized that real freedom requires sacrifice, and the party is prepared to give whatever it takes to achieve that goal.

The gathering in Swabi was organized by PTI to demand the "independence of the judiciary" and to raise their voices for the release of their leader. Gandapur reiterated that only Imran Khan has the authority to make decisions within PTI and that the party remains united in its efforts. He said, "We are together, and we must move forward as one."

The chief minister also hinted at the possibility of a large-scale protest or march on Islamabad to demand Khan's release, stating that they would not return home until the PTI leader is freed. This statement echoes his previous announcement that the PTI would soon make a "final call" to take action against the current government, which they claim has been undemocratic and oppressive.

In his earlier statements, Gandapur had made it clear that peaceful protests had not yielded results, as PTI workers had faced arrest and torture without any response from the authorities. He suggested that this time, the party would take stronger measures, even hinting at dramatic action with "shroud-clad" leaders and workers taking to the streets.

The chief minister promised to announce a date for the protests later this month. He also pledged to hold intra-party elections soon to strengthen PTI's organizational structure and prepare for the challenges ahead. Gandapur’s fiery rhetoric and calls for action have energized PTI supporters, who are determined to fight for Khan’s release.

Also speaking at the event, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan termed the gathering a "referendum" against the current government, accusing them of "stealing the mandate" and undermining the will of the people. He expressed hope that Imran Khan would be released from prison soon, adding that the party would take to the streets to demand his freedom. Gohar also expressed concern over the recent suicide bombing at Quetta's railway station, which killed 27 people and injured dozens more, questioning how peace could be restored in the country while the PTI leader remains behind bars.

Imran Khan was arrested in August 2023 after being convicted in the Toshakhana case. He has since been imprisoned under high security at Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, facing several cases, including a multi-million-pound corruption case. Despite his legal battles, PTI remains determined to continue its fight for his release.
