Imran Khan Responds to Bushra Bibi’s Controversial Remarks on Saudi Arabia

Imran Khan has addressed the controversy surrounding remarks made by his wife, Bushra Bibi, about Saudi Arabia. In a statement shared on his official X account on Friday, Khan clarified that Bushra, in her recent video message, was simply relaying his message to the public about the upcoming protest on November 24.

Bushra Bibi had made waves on Thursday by referring to an alleged incident in Saudi Arabia. In the video, she claimed that when Imran Khan returned home after walking barefoot in the holy city, General Bajwa began receiving disapproving calls. She mentioned that officials reportedly said, "Who have you brought? We don’t want such individuals … you have brought someone advocating for [Sharia] However, Imran Khan disagreed with the interpretation of Bushra's statement and defended her, saying that her remarks had been “deliberately taken out of context” and that the controversy was unnecessary. He emphasized that Bushra had not mentioned Saudi Arabia specifically and had done no wrong.

Imran also reiterated that Bushra Bibi has no involvement in politics and was merely communicating his message to the public. He further stated, "I have excellent relations with Saudi Arabia," recalling that after he was attacked in Wazirabad, one of the first calls he received was from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who expressed support through the embassy.

Khan also recalled the OIC foreign ministers’ conference held in Islamabad just before his government was ousted, which he said was made possible by Saudi Arabia’s support.

Responding to rumors about external involvement in his ousting, Khan dismissed the idea, claiming that his government was toppled due to a conspiracy orchestrated by General Bajwa. He revealed that he tried to have the conspiracy investigated through the Chief Justice and General Tariq Khan, but General Bajwa blocked the investigation. Imran Khan ended his statement by urging his supporters to attend the protest on November 24, calling on them to "break free from slavery."
