‘No Democracy in the Country,’ PTI Criticizes Government
The leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly criticized the current government on Wednesday, claiming that “there is no democracy” in the country.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan spoke out, saying, “Lawlessness has been prevailing in the country for some time now.”
He also condemned the recent abduction of Khawaja Sheraz, stating, “He was taken by unknown individuals, which we strongly condemn.”
Khan further pointed out, “The special committee of parliament has done nothing to protect lawmakers. How can a parliament that cannot protect itself raise its voice for the betterment of the people?”
PTI leader Sheikh Waqas Akram also shared his concerns, saying, “Every member of the National Assembly is going through the same experience.”
He added, “A group of rulers is refusing to accept the supremacy of the law, the constitution, and democracy in this country.”
‘Banana Republic’
Earlier, PTI senior leader Asad Qaiser accused the government of turning Pakistan into a “banana republic.”
In a video statement, Qaiser asked, “Is it possible to live under the rule of the jungle?” He highlighted the struggles of the people, saying, “The public is finding it hard to afford even basic necessities, like two meals a day.”
He also criticized Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, saying, “Is this the democracy they claim to believe in? Both Nawaz and Bilawal have hurt the country.”
Qaiser concluded, “The country is sadly heading toward anarchy.”
He emphasized, “It is the people who truly hold the power in this country.”
