The cabinet recently discussed the possibility of imposing Governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) or banning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, according to Senior PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah. During an interview on the Nadeem Malik Live program at SAMAA TV, Sanaullah confirmed that the federal government’s offer for talks with PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, is still on the table.
Rana Sanaullah stressed the importance of dialogue as the only way forward to resolve the ongoing issues. He pointed out that without talks, it would be difficult to find a lasting solution to the challenges currently facing the country. The Interior Minister added that the recent cabinet meeting discussed these two significant options—imposing Governor’s rule in KP or banning PTI altogether—but no final decision was made on either matter.
"The Prime Minister has made it clear that any decision on these issues will be taken only after consulting with our coalition partners to ensure that we reach a consensus," Sanaullah said. The government, he added, remains committed to finding a peaceful and constructive way to address the political situation.
Sanaullah also reiterated the government’s willingness to engage in talks with Imran Khan, urging the PTI founder to come forward and share his thoughts. By doing so, he believes that both sides could move toward a resolution that benefits the country. He highlighted that the government is open to discussing any issues raised by Imran Khan, provided that it leads to a peaceful and productive outcome for Pakistan.
The ongoing political tensions are challenging, but the government is hopeful that through open dialogue and cooperation, a solution can be found. The call for talks remains a priority, and the government is focused on bringing all parties to the table for discussions.
The cabinet is closely monitoring the situation, and while decisions are being carefully considered, the emphasis is on achieving a consensus through discussion and cooperation.
